For our Memorial weekend we didn't play like most , we didn't go camping, we didn't even work in the yard to clean it up , we MOVED A BUILDING to our house.
Moved a building you ask? Yes and it was no simple job either.
Daniel has a customer that is looking into opening a gravel pit out here where we live , on the piece of property he wants to do this on has an old house and barn he wanted to demolish. Daniel has been looking into building a shop or storage for all of our toys in the garage. So he used this building to his advantage , he was told if he moved it or tore it down he could have it. So he was determined he was moving it not tearing it down. It is an 18'x28' x 20' building so not small by any means. No it's not the best looking building but it's stout and we love rebuilding things, ha. After many many days of trying to figure out how he was going to do it he finally figured it out.
We talked with a friend about an old frame they had and borrowed that then his dad had some old trailer house axles they welded to the frame. Daniel borrowed a loader from work and we went to work.
Starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday they began their quest. This is their makeshift trailer to haul the building 2 miles on.
This is the shape the building is in. We went two miles and it took us almost 2 hours to get it home because we had to go so slow for fear that the building might fall apart in the middle of the road. Our worst fear was going over the overpasses for I-15 and under the power lines that crossed the road. But as soon as we went under the first line we knew we were fine.
I got to be the pilot car and tell people to pull over or turn around because there was a building that took up the whole road and there would be no room for them to go through. Most people were understanding but there were a few that were just plan rude and had a fit. This is where it ended up.
