Field Day at the school

OK this one is a late one but better late then never right?
Every year our school has a field day , it's a day of outside games in the lovely heat playing and goofing off. Kinda like a reward for the kids doing so well in the school year. They always ask for parents to help or even just come and watch the kids as they compete for different things.
I got to help this year and was in charge of the races. Not the big one but a fun one at that.
At the end of the day the whole school gathers around and every one gets to race , first each class races boys then girls. Then they take the fastest boy and girl of the class and put them against the whole school. Bradley was fastest in 3 rd grade of course , I hate to sound bias but I already knew he would win that one. Then he raced against the whole school and took second to a 5Th grader , I think if he would of stuck his chest out just an inch or two they would of said Bradley won because the boy can run like a damn deer.Dustin had a little bit of trouble starting off when he raced because his teacher was talking to him at the same time the P.E. teacher said go so he took 5Th in his class. Which really that is good because there is 25 students in his class. I think he did good no matter what though. Then they had long jump competitions all the kids who were the fastest runners for their class got to participate. That went on for 15 minutes before they finally had a winner for that. And of course Bradley was against a 5Th grader til the end. Bradley jumped his last jump and barely touched the rope on the other side, the other kid jumped and barely missed the other rope. I tell you every one is going to want Bradley in track when he gets to high school if he can keep this up. WOW. It was a good day in all and we enjoyed the fun time. Now off to football and soccer to keep their skills going.

Memorial Weekend.

For our Memorial weekend we didn't play like most , we didn't go camping, we didn't even work in the yard to clean it up , we MOVED A BUILDING to our house.

Moved a building you ask? Yes and it was no simple job either.

Daniel has a customer that is looking into opening a gravel pit out here where we live , on the piece of property he wants to do this on has an old house and barn he wanted to demolish. Daniel has been looking into building a shop or storage for all of our toys in the garage. So he used this building to his advantage , he was told if he moved it or tore it down he could have it. So he was determined he was moving it not tearing it down. It is an 18'x28' x 20' building so not small by any means. No it's not the best looking building but it's stout and we love rebuilding things, ha. After many many days of trying to figure out how he was going to do it he finally figured it out.
We talked with a friend about an old frame they had and borrowed that then his dad had some old trailer house axles they welded to the frame. Daniel borrowed a loader from work and we went to work.
Starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday they began their quest. This is their makeshift trailer to haul the building 2 miles on.
They used the axles on the back of the building and then the loader lifted the front of the building and pulled it the whole way backwards.

This is the shape the building is in. We went two miles and it took us almost 2 hours to get it home because we had to go so slow for fear that the building might fall apart in the middle of the road. Our worst fear was going over the overpasses for I-15 and under the power lines that crossed the road. But as soon as we went under the first line we knew we were fine.
I got to be the pilot car and tell people to pull over or turn around because there was a building that took up the whole road and there would be no room for them to go through. Most people were understanding but there were a few that were just plan rude and had a fit. This is where it ended up.

Daniel said the hardest part was going around the corners. At the bottom of the overpass we were so happy to have it down from there. And that was our whole 3 day weekend , nothing but working on that building, Sat. getting it here, Sunday setting it on the ground, and Monday getting every thing put back to their rightful owners. Man I think we need a good break now.

Suicidal Gold Fish.

Yes you read that right. This morning while grabbing the coffee out of the fridge to make a cup of coffee to start my day off, I was walking back to put something away and happened to look down on the kitchen floor. When I first glanced down I wasn't sure what I was looking at sitting in the middle of the floor. It was orange and fairly small, as I took a better look I noticed the nasty thing had eyes and it was looking right up at me. When I realized what it was I was so shocked to see where it was. Poor Dustin's gold fish and decided it was going to do a trick and jumped out of his bowl in the middle of the night while we were all sleeping. Now I'm not sure what exactly happened and how it got to where it did but I must say if it jumped all the way to where it was on the floor wow that thing could jump. Now my poor boy has no more gold fish out of three , I thought it was pretty funny but he didn't think so. Maybe after the gold fish had lost all his other buddies he decided life was too hard and decided to join them?

End of school

This week has been a blur and yes it's only Tuesday.
Yesterday was our schools Field Day, an all day event of running around playing games and seeing who is the fastest kid in the school. I love helping out with the kids' school things so of course I was head of the racing games. Both of my boys did very well with their races. Bradley was extra good he took second fastest of the school to a 5Th grader mind you he is only in 3rd grade. Just short of winning by a simple 6 inches . He has to get his running from his dad.
Then today I got to go and help out for Bradley's class field trip , we went to see the titanic at the museum in Idaho Falls. It was very interesting. The kids all had fun. I think their favorite part was touching the iceberg display and seeing how cold it was in the water, then they each got a boarding pass as we entered with a name of a person and facts about them that were on the ship. At the end of the tour they had a list of survivors and a list of the people who didn't make it. So each kid got to see if the person they were was a survivor or not. In all it was a lovely day.
Last week I was able to go with Dustin on his field trip to the Zoo , that was fun as well. We also went to Reeds Dairy to look at all the cows and have ice cream. Being where we live you'd think most of the kids would be use to the smell of cows but wow were they screaming and holding their noses from the smell. It was kinda funny. They enjoyed the ice cream the most I think.
So in all the last month of school I believe for me is the busiest month of them all. But it's also the most fun as well.
