For this 4
Th of July we wanted to do something
different from our usual , going to the parade in Idaho Falls and fighting the crazy crowd, hanging out around the house, and
BBQ for the fireworks. Although those things are always fun we need a change of pace from the house.
So we decided to go to
Leadore, you may ask why there? But in our defense it sounded like a reasonable place to be. Daniel has family up there, his dad has a cabin up there, and a few of our really good friends are from there, they were all going too.

So we headed on our 2 hour drive pulling the camper on Friday the 3rd. The drive was beautiful because of all the rain we've had this last month. Usually it's sagebrush and burnt up brush but it was all
lushes and green. We arrived just in time to see his uncle's derby car ready to be painted. It was a sight to see I will say.

It was an old
station wagon with the wood paneling and everything. Daniel was kinda stoked to see it and be able to help work on last minute details, because for the derby race he got to be in the pit crew.
The next morning we woke up
fairly early for us on a Saturday and walked across the street to the
fire station to enjoy
Leadores big breakfast for the community. It was amazing to see all the people there considering the population of
Leadore is only 90. Yes you read right 90. I think on the 4
Th their population grows 3 times it's normal size. After enjoying a big cheap breakfast , we walked around the town and checked things out, talking to every one we knew on the way.
At noon they had their parade and I'll tell you, I'd way rather go there then Idaho Falls if I were a kid. The parade isn't long just 15 to 20 minutes but they threw so much candy out that the kids didn't even get it all picked up. Bradley and Dustin made out pretty good bringing home a huge grocery sack of candy. After a few drinks and talking and relaxing we headed over to load up the derby car for the event.
We headed to Salmon ,with our DD mind you. It was a long night but very interesting considering I've never been to a demolition derby before.

We saw cars bashed in and tore up , cars that caught on fire and smoke like no tomorrow, because the radiators were munched up. I couldn't imagine being in that car, as others came full throttle across the arena and rear end you or smash into you full force head on. The whiplash must of been horrible the day after. But there was lots of cheers for the event. It was awesome I must say. Poor Daniel didn't get to watch much but he was thrilled to be able to work fast and make some thing that was smashed to pieces work again.

After the derby we weren't able to enjoy the fireworks but the kids weren't too distraught about it because boys will be boys and they really enjoyed the bashing and trashing.
Sunday we just sat around and enjoyed every ones company then headed home to the in laws picking kids up for the movies then a pizza and beer to end the night. I must say it was an awesome weekend and yes I will do it again. :) Hope every one else got to enjoy their 4
Th as much as we did. And next year I would recommend
Leadore.
